The Other Planet

THE OTHER PLANETIt was 2222 already. Mid-day, in the middle of one of the coldest winters humanity has ever faced. It was raining like a waterfall and it was freezing cold. Humanity knew exactly what it had to deal with. It had to face an army of a very advanced population. The alien’s robots. The shaking noise of footsteps on the ground got louder and louder. “It was true then!” John thought. The robots were winning the final and deciding battle. Everyone was doing their best but it was clear that even the last drop of hope was gone. The future was uncertain. Did the time come that humanity would be extinct? Wiped out of the face of their own planet? No one could tell. John was moody. He starting seeing flashbacks of the first day aliens and humans met.
I was still 2190 and he was 21 years old. His party was getting ready to lift off, with him being the leader. They all starter walking towards the brand new designed spaceship. John bragged it could travel to the sun and not get burned, to the last planet of our solar system and even to some near solar systems in the Milky Way. That was their mission that day, to travel to some other solar systems in the Milky Way. The lift off went perfectly and it was a spectacular sight to see, with all that power coming off. John was travelling towards Neptune, the last planet in our solar system. They decided to get out of our solar system and they did. This was the first time humans went out of our solar systems themselves. Not probes. Humans!
They landed on the first planet of our neighboring solar system. It looked deserted and desolated. It was extremely hot with a crystal clear sky and it had 5 sons, but there was something more strange about this planet. The sons were orbiting the planet, not the planet around them! It was nothing like Earth. You could hear no birds singing and there was no green but blue. Most of the planet consisted of water. Everything besides the water looked red like blood. Like there was a bid fire that burned everything in its path. At times there were strong air currents coming from multiple directions. Not strange for a planet with 5 sons. Furthermore, the team didn’t need to breathe constantly because the air was full of oxygen that sometimes made their eyes burn. There were some groups of houses at some points on dry land. They were cylindrical with a flat top. No windows and it seemed that they were built with stone.
John and his team could here nothing but loud noises like BAM! BOOM!
At some point they could here people yelling so they run towards their screams. They could not believe their eyes. What they saw was going to be left in history for an eternity. It was a war between aliens and robots. “Whose side will we take?” John thought. While he was thinking, he spotted and small warehouse. “Run to that warehouse” he commanded his team. Then everyone started running towards the warehouse that John pointed. The door was huge and made a creaking sound when they opened it. Creak! John slammed the door shut. Bam! In there they found aliens sitting and moaning for their dead.
The aliens were 3 meters tall minimum and 5 meters tall maximum. “That explains the huge door” John thought. They were all blue with green spots on them. They were amphibious. They said they evolved to be amphibious because at the early days of their planet it was too hot for them to live on dry land only. This left them with no choice but to be in the water for most hours of the day. They also had no hair and almond shaped eyes. Most of them had red eyes. Some had green and others yellow. Furthermore, they had 2 tiny holes instead of a nose and, what it seemed like, no mouth. That left the team with their jaws open because they could here them talking. The aliens had 4 massive tentacles for hands and 4 enormous tentacles for legs. Their body was round shaped and strong. Additionally, there voice was squeaky and it sounded like 10 of the same alien were talking at the same time. Immediately when they saw John and his team they got really scared. This was because it was the first time they had contact with a population like humans. But the team was not far behind. They were also terrified. But the aliens, instead of attacking the team, they tried to approach them. They were extremely polite, friendly and welcoming. But the human team could not understand what the aliens were saying and the aliens could not understand what the humans were saying. So John took his universal translator and put it on the ground so that they could communicate.
The aliens started lamenting to the humans their long and sad story. They said: There was a time when we and the robots lived peacefully together until Bukaja came. Firstly, the robots were invented by a group of mad scientists that decided to make their lives better. It took many years but they had finally created a generation of robots that could do anything. Wash, cook, fix anything broken and even construct more robots. The robots were very helpful at first but then, one day, when Bukaja came, everyone’s life changed. He tried to blind the robots with his lies, telling them that he was their ancestor and he rose from the dead to save them from us because they were being oppressed. Then they believed him and rebelled against our race to ‘gain their rights’. Then the rebellion became a war that had lasted 3 moths and it’s still going. We have been hiding here for 2 moths and we are running out of supplies. We are going to die. Help us. Please!”
“Describe the robots to us,” John said.
“They are taller than us. They are stronger than us. This is because they are made out of adamantium, the strongest substance on our planet. Furthermore, they have red glowing sensors for eyes and they have 2 hands and 2 legs. Just like you. Additionally, if they see one of us, they would kill him instantly and poke his eyes out,” their leader cried out.
“They are merciless even if our scientists developed them to have feelings. They have arranged them in teams. There are rangers, task force and navy. Every team is equipped with our best weapons that they found in warehouses such as this,” another alien added.
“They also built there own ships and machines. They are the most fierce weapons the hold since most of the planet consists of water,” another alien cried.
They sky was filled with black smoke, like the broken hearts of the aliens that lost all their hopes of winning this war.
“Are their any weapons left in this warehouse?” Nicko, who was one of the soldiers amongst the human team, emphasized.
“Yes there are some left in the back room, let me show you,” one of the alien soldiers said.
“Lead the way,” John responded.
They arrived at the back room where the alien weapons were packed.
“Equip yourselves comrades, this is going to be a long day,” John commanded.
“Yes sir,” Andro, who was one of the human scientists, replied.
Then another alien showed up. He was wearing a strange cloak and a crown.
“I am the king of the Amahasa, the race that lives on this planet. I beg of you humans. Please help us!”
“Will we do whatever we can sir,” John said.
“Give the signal human!” Riham bossed. He was the King of the alien race.
“As you please your highness,” John responded.
They stood behind the closed door. John was leaning on the door trying to hear what was going on outside.
“NOW!” John cried out.
Then everyone in the warehouse that could fight jumped out. The robots were surprised. Now the aliens were more likely to win this battle, or at least that’s what they thought. After some time, the robots brought their bid machines that looked just like them but 30 times taller and with more powerful weapons. The humans and the aliens ran behind a hill for cover. They regrouped there. John found out that Nicko and Dan were gone. He poked his head over the top of the hill and tried to spot them. He was scowling for 20 seconds when the finally spotted Nicko’s dead body but he couldn’t find Dan’s one anywhere. “They must have taken him as hostage,” John thought. “I hope he doesn’t say anything about earth because then human kind will be doomed as well.” But this time his thoughts were loud and everyone heard them. They all knew what was going on and the idea of death, misery and captivity raced through everyone’s mind. John saw that their spaceship was behind the enemy’s machines so they were trapped.
“Let’s get out there for one final blow. We win or we die!” John yelled.
Everyone shouted “Let’s go!”
John and his team and the remaining alien soldiers with their king jumped out from cover and started shooting at the robots. The robots backed down and retreated to their headquarters.
John looked around. Everything was destroyed. Either burnt or destroyed by the lasers shot in the battle. The houses around the battlefield were all ruins. The oceans dried out because the thick clouds of gases produced by the robots’ machines blocked the rain clouds from raining for a long time. Furthermore, there were dead alien bodies crushed by robots everywhere. The stench was awful. The land had to be rebuild from the beginning.
The battles continued for some more moths. John and his team along with the aliens destroyed many of the hideouts of the robots.
“Go back to your planet. We can with this war now thanks to your help. Thank you, humans. Farewell!” Riham said.
“You are welcome your majesty. We will be coming back sometime soon. Maybe we can help you rebuild what you lost. Good bye!” John replied.
The human party returned to their landing point and boarded the spaceship. They landed on Earth 5 weeks later. Everyone was tired and made jokes about how they were going to be sleeping for weeks. They were ready to get out of the spaceship when Andro noticed some strange machines near the space station. Nicky said it was alright because they have not been on Earth for almost a year so there might have been some development.
“No. No. Something’s not right. But maybe it’s just me. I don’t know. I have a strange feeling!” John agonized.
“I am sure everything is fine!” Mario reassured John.
They walked towards the welcoming room of the space station but as they walked a huge, black flying machine passed just over their heads.
“Hey watch where you are going!” Mario shouted.
“Stop shouting!” John whispered.
“Why?” Mario replied.
“Run for cover” John signaled to his team.
“It has to be the robots!” Nicky bawled.
“But how?” Mario questioned.
“Dan!” John said.
“What?!” Mario questioned again.
“Dan! He didn’t regroup with us at the fight behind the hill and I could not spot his body anywhere!” John sobbed.
“Oh yeah!?” Mario said with amazement. “Never liked that guy!” he continued.
“They must have taken him as hostage and he gave in to the tortures. That’s how the robots learnt about Earth. So they came to conquer another planet!” John sobbed again.
“That means they won the war with the Amahasa?” Nicky asked with sadness.
“Yes, it seems like they did. It’s the only explanation!” John groaned.
“We are doomed!” Mario bawled.
“No we are not! We are going to fight for our survival! Now are you with me or not?” John raged.
“YES, SIR WE ARE!” everyone responded.
The team sought out for other human camps. They gathered more and more willing to help. That was the beginning of the resistance. The group of teams that fought against the robots. John and his team’s first target was the tower near the space station. They wanted to sabotage the robots’ plans, whatever they were. They want to the nearest warehouse of the resistance to gather equipment for the battle. Then they went sneaking into the tower through the small tunnels at the bottom. They knew about these tunnels because they have been studying this tower for many days. They set some explosives there. Then they climbed up for a while and then stopped because they heard some creaks and thunders. Creak! Bam! Creak! Bam!
“Robots,” John whispered. “Let’s take them out cleanly and silently,” he continued.
He gave the signal and they took them out. They hid them in the tunnels and moved on. They sneaked from floor to floor and none of the robots heard their scuttle.  They were finally at the top. They put explosives there too. After that they all jumped down and opened their parachutes. John detonated the explosives as they touched the ground and they cheered as they saw the tower falling down. At that point a bomb woke him up from his flashback.

There he was again. In the middle of the final and deciding battle! But then he sank into his thoughts again. This time it was a dream. A dream they had won this war. A dream that human kind has survived! A dream of positive future with flying cars and buildings 3 times as tall as the highest skyscraper at that day. He also dreamt of world peace. Not only between people on Earth but with aliens on other planets as well. Before he could finish his dream a bullet caught him on the shoulder.
Who was going to win the war in the end? Humans or aliens?  Will the humans lose and be extinct? Will the flee to other planets for a fresh start? No one knows. No one will… After all, future is more important than history.
